Last minute mom-daughter trip to Jamaica for the long weekend.

I already shared how the trip came to pass and of course, booking travel without careful attention to details can make for mistakes or adventure. Always depends on how you view it.

The adventure started with booking our hotels on Friday and I missed changing the year back to 2025. Guessing I had an idea to go somewhere this weekend in 2026! After much figuring out and talking to hotels dot com (another reason I love them), I was able to get a refund for the non refundable hotel in Philly and cancel and rebook the hotel in Jamaica. Luck was definitely on our side.

Luck was still on our side out of Philly. I was upgraded to BC but because our tickets were separated in ORD, Sophia wasn’t on the list. But the absolutely lovely ladies in the Admiral’s Club in Philly worked their magic and managed to get Sophia upgraded too.

The resort is beautiful but three hours of sun with drinks and empty stomachs made for an early night. So we had to make up for it Sunday. I’m not sure which part was the best part of the day: pool time just hanging and talking, the evening entertainment which included a dance off and karaoke, the disco club and warm tequila shots (YUCK), or the late night laughter in the room. Any way you look at it, pretty much an amazing 48 hours. Only regrets are we didn’t take enough pictures.

And now, home so I can return to ORD in eight hours for work.
