SENEGAL • THE GAMBIA • CASAMANCE

In November 2025, I’ll travel through Senegal and The Gambia for the next chapter of my ongoing journey—part research, part adventure, all curiosity. I’ll spend time with women in markets, cooperatives, and small communities, noticing how comfort, conversation, and care take shape in the spaces they call their own. And then, I’ll trade the research notebook for a motorcycle helmet and see what freedom feels like on the open road.

RESEARCH: WOMEN & SPACES – SENEGAL & THE GAMBIA

This trip is part of the early research for Women & Spaces, my next project exploring how women create comfort, belonging, and rhythm in the spaces around them. In Dakar, Goree Island, and small communities from Mekhe to Toubab Dialaw, I’ll be spending time with women in markets, farms, and cooperatives—observing how they move, interact, and express ease or authority in their environments. I’m curious about what happens in those quiet exchanges—how gestures shift around men, outsiders, or children, and how space itself becomes a reflection of culture, work, and care.

SCOOTER TOUR: RIDING TOWARD FREEDOM

After the research portion, I’ll trade city streets for open roads and join a small scooter tour through Senegal, The Gambia, and the Casamance region. I’ve never driven one before, but something about the movement—the wind, the risk, the independence—feels right for this season of life. The tour winds through villages, forests, and coastal paths, offering the kind of perspective you can only find when you’re moving slow enough to see everything up close. It’s a continuation of what travel has always been for me: a way to feel free, to listen closely, and to keep learning how to belong wherever I am.
